Description
Attera-40 Tablet is used for the treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The condition is characterized by symptoms such as difficulty in paying attention, impulsiveness, hyperactivity (being abnormally active), etc. Attera-40 Tablet is available on prescription as a capsule, tablet, and powder/granules. This medicine improves your focus and reduces restlessness by regulating the activity of neurotransmitters (specific chemical messengers) in your brain. Attera-40 Tablet shows some common side effects like nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, drowsiness, and constipation. As this medication causes dizziness and drowsiness, you should avoid driving or doing anything that needs mental focus. Attera-40 Tablet has the potential to raise your blood pressure, therefore it is important to monitor your blood pressure regularly while taking this medicine. Consult your doctor if you experience any mood swings or behavioural changes after taking this medicine. Attera-40 Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose and duration of this medicine will be decided by your doctor depending on its form. Take this medicine at the same time every day to get its maximum benefits. Attera-40 Tablet is not recommended to be used in children under 6 years of age. Inform your doctor about any heart, liver or kidney troubles that you may have before taking this medicine. There is no evidence supporting the safety of Attera-40 Tablet during pregnancy. Allergy

Narrow angle glaucoma

Narrow-angle glaucoma is a condition in which the pressure inside your eyes increases. This happens when the fluids inside your eye do not drain properly because the spaces have become narrow. Attera-40 Tablet is not recommended if you have narrow-angle glaucoma as it may increase the risk of mydriasis (a condition in which the pupil of the eye gets widened due to increased eye pressure).

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)

MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) are medications used to treat depression and other mental health conditions. Do not take Attera-40 Tablet with MAOIs or within two weeks after discontinuing MAOIs, as it can lead to complications.

Pheochromocytoma

Pheochromocytoma is a tumour of the adrenal gland (an organ above your kidneys) which is often associated with symptoms such as high blood pressure, increased heartbeat, sweating, and headache. Attera-40 Tablet is not recommended if you are diagnosed with or have a history of pheochromocytoma. This medicine can worsen your condition.

Heart diseases

Attera-40 Tablet is not recommended if you have any medical condition of the heart. This medicine may worsen your condition by increasing your blood pressure and heart rate.

Pregnancy

Attera-40 Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy due to the risk of side effects on your foetus. If you are pregnant, consult your doctor for safer alternatives.

Driving or Operating Machinery

Urinary Retention

Urinary retention is a condition in which you are unable to empty your bladder (the organ in which the urine is stored) completely. This medicine can increase the risk of side effects such as urinary retention and urinary hesitancy (trouble in starting to urinate or maintaining urine flow).

Suicidal Tendency

Attera-40 Tablet may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts. If you are diagnosed with depression and other mental health conditions, this medicine can worsen your symptoms.

Use in children

Avoid the use of Attera-40 Tablet in children less than 6 years of age because the safety and efficacy of this medicine are not clinically known.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Attera-40 Tablet, make sure that you take your next dose when it is due. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose

Liver Disease

Attera-40 Tablet should be used with extreme caution if you have a history of liver troubles. This medicine breaks down in your liver and is excreted through urine. Using this medicine while you have pre-existing liver troubles can further worsen your condition and may cause damages to your liver. Inform your doctor if you have liver troubles.

Kidney Disease

Attera-40 Tablet should be used with caution if you have a history of kidney troubles. This medicine is metabolised in the liver and excreted through urine. Using this medicine while you have pre-existing kidney troubles can damage your kidneys further. Inform your doctor if you have any medical conditions of the kidneys.

Seizure disorders

A seizure is a condition in which there is uncontrolled body movement due to electrical disturbances in the brain. Attera-40 Tablet should be used with caution if you have such a condition as it can lead to the onset or aggravation of seizure attacks.

Psychiatric disorders

Attera-40 Tablet should be used with extreme caution if you are diagnosed with any mental health conditions (a wide range of conditions that affect mood, behaviour and thinking). If you experience any change in mood, thinking and behaviour during treatment with this medicine, inform your doctor.

High blood pressure

Attera-40 Tablet may lead to an increase in blood pressure which may cause heart attack and stroke (brain damage due to insufficient blood flow). Use this medicine with caution if you are suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure). Your blood pressure and heart rate have to be regularly monitored when taking this medicine.
