Description
Asomex-OH Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age. It is also not recommended as initial therapy for high blood pressure. Patients are advised to maintain a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine for the best possible effect.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to hydrochlorothiazide, other sulfonamides, S-amlodipine, other calcium-channel blockers, olmesartan, other angiotensin receptor blockers, or any other inactive ingredients present along with the formulation.

Aliskiren

Coadministration of aliskiren and this combination medicine is not recommended due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in patients with diabetes and kidney diseases.

Anuria

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with anuria (a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Severe renal impairment

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Pregnancy

General warnings

Hypotension

Use of this medicine may increase the risk of hypotension, especially in patients with volume depletion. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Hyperkalemia

This medicine may increase potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia). This may cause serious side effects such as fatal cardiac rhythm irregularities. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (potassium-sparing diuretics and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.

Use in children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Coronary artery diseases

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from coronary artery diseases since it may worsen the patient's condition. Close monitoring of heart function and vital signs is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Liver impairment

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment. Close monitoring of liver function is necessary while taking this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Volume and electrolyte depletion

This medicine may alter the blood volume and electrolyte levels in some patients. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, and acid-base imbalance. Kidney diseases

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with kidney impairment due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Driving and operating machines

This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Eye diseases

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with eye diseases such as acute myopia or secondary angle-closure glaucoma due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. How it works
Hydrochlorothiazide increases the excretion of water and sodium through the urine. S-amlodipine relaxes the heart muscles and the blood vessels. Olmesartan relaxes the blood vessels and promotes a smooth flow of blood. Their combination is thus effective in lowering the blood pressure.
