Description

Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that contains cefpodoxime. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, bladder, etc. It kills the bacteria, thereby stops the infection from spreading. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Your doctor may advise this medicine alone or in combination with other medications to treat bacterial infections. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet has side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if any side effects are seen for a longer period. Do not take this medicine if you are previously allergic to it. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet can be taken with food for better absorption. For the ease of remembering, take it at the same time every day. Once the antibiotic is started, ensure that the entire course of treatment is completed. Avoid unnecessary use of Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet, as excessive use may cause the bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet effects may be delayed when taken with medications that reduce the production of stomach acids like antacids, proton pump inhibitors or H2 blockers. Therefore, take Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, before using Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet.

What is it prescribed for?

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in your lungs. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria. It is also used to treat chronic bronchitis (long-term inflammation of the bronchi) and subsequent episodes of bronchitis.

Community-Acquired Pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria like Mycoplasma pneumonia, Streptococcus pneumonia, Haemophilus influenzae, etc.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is the swelling of membranes that line your nose and surrounding sinuses. It is often caused by bacteria and sometimes, viruses and fungi. You may experience a stuffed nose and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is used to treat bacterial sinusitis and provides relief in three to eight weeks.

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. If it is the infection affects both the throat and the tonsils, then it would be called pharyngotonsillitis. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis.

Skin and soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.

Cystitis

Cystitis is the swelling of the urinary bladder usually caused by a bacterial infection. This is more common in women because their urethra is much shorter, which means bacteria can go into the bladder more easily. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is used to treat cystitis caused by bacteria like E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, and Klebsiella species.

Pyelonephritis

Pyelonephritis is the swelling of the kidneys due to bacterial infection. This infection starts in your urethra or bladder and spreads through the ureters to the kidneys. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is used to treat pyelonephritis.

General warnings

Diarrhoea

Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor if you experience severe diarrhoea while using this medicine.

Seizures

Use Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet with caution if you have a seizure episode or fits because it can worsen your condition.

Antibiotic resistance

The entire course of treatment with Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet should be completed to avoid antibiotic resistance (microorganisms develop the ability to defeat the antibiotics), even if the condition gets better after taking few doses.

Driving or operating machinery

Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits. Do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery after taking this medicine.

Antacids

If you are taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, they can delay the effects of Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet. Hence, it is recommended to take this medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.

Missed Dose

Do not skip a dose of Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet. If you forgot to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If the time for your next dose is near skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose of Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet. Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet.

Kidney diseases

Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet is filtered by the kidney and excreted through urine. An impaired kidney can lead to its accumulation and toxicity. Hence, maintain caution while taking Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet as it can increase the risk of kidney damage.

Liver disease

Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet may increase liver enzyme levels. Hence, maintain caution while taking Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet as it can increase the risk of liver damage.

Colitis

Colitis is the inflammation of the large intestine. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use this medicine with extreme caution if you have any stomach and intestinal diseases, particularly colitis, as it may worsen your condition.

Food interactions

Taking Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet before food may result in severe adverse effects. Therefore take this medicine with food to avoid any undesired side effects.

Lab interactions

Coombs test

The Coombs' test is used to detect antibodies that act against the surface of your red blood cells. The presence of these antibodies indicates a condition known as hemolytic anaemia. Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet may give a false-positive result when the coombs test is performed.
Take Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet with food. Never take more than the prescribed dose. Take this medicine at around the same time daily. Never take more than the prescribed dose. Complete the entire treatment course with Zipod 30 30 MG Tablet to avoid antibiotic resistance. Consult your doctor if you experience any undesirable effects. Keep away from the reach of children and pets. Do not use it after the expiry date. Ensure that unused medicine is disposed of properly. Do not give your medicine to other people even if their condition appears to be the same as yours.
