Description

Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that contains cefpodoxime. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, bladder, etc. It is also used to treat typhoid fever in children. This medicine prevents infection by killing or stopping the growth of the bacteria. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Your doctor may advise Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup alone or in combination with other medications to treat bacterial infections. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup shows some side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Do not use this medicine if your child is previously allergic to it. Consult your doctor if any side effects persist for a longer period. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is an effective medicine used in infants above 2 months of age. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup can be given with or without food. Before administration, dissolve the powder in a glass of water. For the ease of remembering, give the dry syrup to your child at the same time every day. Once you started using this medicine for your child, ensure that the entire course of treatment is completed. Avoid unnecessary use of Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup as excessive use may cause the bacteria to become resistant to treatment. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup may not be suitable for all children. Inform your child's doctor about your child’s complete medical history, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, a blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung disease, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver disease, and kidney problem. What is it prescribed for?

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria. It is also used to treat a sudden worsening of chronic bronchitis (long-term inflammation of the bronchi) and subsequent episodes of bronchitis.

Community-Acquired Pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria like Mycoplasma pneumonia, Streptococcus pneumonia, Haemophilus influenzae, etc.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is the swelling of membranes that line the nose and surrounding sinuses. It is often caused by bacteria and sometimes, viruses and fungi. Your child may experience a stuffed nose and pain or pressure behind the eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is used to treat bacterial sinusitis and provides relief in three to eight weeks.

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. If it is the infection affects both the throat and the tonsils, then it would be called pharyngotonsillitis. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis.

Acute bacterial otitis media

Otitis media (AOM), is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), common in infants and young children. Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria. Applying a warm, moist washcloth over the infected ear can also help to reduce the swelling of the middle ear along with this medicine.

Antibiotic resistance

Seizures

Avoid using Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup or maintain caution if your child has any seizure episodes, as it can worsen his/her health condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required.

Diarrhoea

Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your child's stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor if your child experiences severe diarrhoea while receiving this medicine.

Antacids

If your child is taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, it can reduce the absorption of Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup by reducing the acidity level in the stomach. Therefore, it is recommended to give this antibiotic at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after giving antacids.

Missed Dose

Try not to miss any dose of Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup. Give the medicine to your child as soon as you remember. If a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.

Overdose

Never give more than the prescribed dose to your child. Seek emergency medical attention in case you suspect that you might have given an overdose of Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup.

Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup is filtered by the kidney and excreted through urine. Hence, maintain caution while using Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup if your child has any kidney disease as it can increase the risk of kidney damage.

Liver disease

Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup may increase liver enzyme levels and cause liver swelling. Hence, maintain caution while giving Zipod 100 MG Dry Syrup as it can increase the risk of liver damage.

The reconstituted suspension may be stored under refrigeration (2 to 8 degrees Celsius) for a duration of 14 days. Keep away from the reach of children and pets. Do not use it after the expiry date.
