Description

Zedocef 100 MG Drops is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, bladder, etc in children. It is also used to treat typhoid fever. This medicine prevents infection by killing or stopping the growth of bacteria. Zedocef 100 MG Drops is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Zedocef 100 MG Drops shows some common side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Do not give this medicine if your child is allergic to it. Consult your child's doctor if any side effects are seen for a long time. Zedocef 100 MG Drops can be given with or without food. For the ease of remembering, give the syrup to your child at the same time every day. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medication, you may repeat the dose. Once your child starts taking the medicine, ensure that the entire course of treatment is completed to prevent re-infection. Zedocef 100 MG Drops may not be suitable for all conditions. Inform the doctor if your child has liver or kidney problems, or any other health condition.

What is it prescribed for?

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulate air passage in the lungs. Zedocef 100 MG Drops is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria. It is also used to treat a sudden worsening of chronic bronchitis (a long-lasting form of bronchitis) and subsequent episodes of bronchitis that come and go after the initial recovery.

Cystitis

Cystitis is the swelling of the urinary bladder (an organ that stores urine) usually caused by a bacterial infection. Zedocef 100 MG Drops is used to treat cystitis caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, and Klebsiella species.

Community-Acquired Pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. Zedocef 100 MG Drops is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria like Mycoplasma pneumonia, Streptococcus pneumonia, Haemophilus influenzae, etc.

Sinusitis

Sinuses are hollow spaces located behind the forehead, nose, cheekbones, and in between the eyes. Sinusitis is the swelling of the tissues surrounding the sinuses. Your child may experience a stuffed nose, and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Zedocef 100 MG Drops is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. Zedocef 100 MG Drops is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis (a condition where both, the tonsils and the pharynx, are affected).

Acute bacterial otitis media

Otitis media (AOM), is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), common in infants and young children. Zedocef 100 MG Drops is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria.

Diarrhoea

Zedocef 100 MG Drops can cause diarrhoea as it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your child's stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor if your child experiences severe diarrhoea while taking this medicine.

Antibiotic resistance

Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria develop the ability to defeat the medicine that was intended to kill them. Hence, complete the entire course of treatment even if your child feels better after a few doses to avoid antibiotic resistance.

Antacids

Antacids containing aluminium and magnesium salts can reduce the absorption of Zedocef 100 MG Drops. Therefore, if your child has been prescribed an antacid, it is recommended to give this antibiotic at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Zedocef 100 MG Drops. If you forget to give a dose to your child, give it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to compensate for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never give more than the prescribed dose to your child. Seek emergency medical attention in case of an overdose with Zedocef 100 MG Drops.

Colitis

Colitis is the inflammation of the large intestine. Zedocef 100 MG Drops can kill the helpful bacteria in your child's stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use this medicine with caution if your child has any stomach and intestinal problems, particularly colitis, as it may worsen his/her health condition.

Impaired kidney function

Zedocef 100 MG Drops is filtered by the kidney and moved out of the body through urine. Hence, maintain caution while giving Zedocef 100 MG Drops to your child as it can increase the risk of kidney damage.

Impaired liver function

Zedocef 100 MG Drops may increase liver enzyme levels and cause liver swelling. Hence, maintain caution while giving Zedocef 100 MG Drops to your child as it can increase the risk of liver damage.

Seizures

Zedocef 100 MG Drops should be used with caution if your child has a history of seizure episodes (fits), as it can trigger a seizure attack. Your child’s doctor will adjust the dose or replace the medicine with a suitable alternative as required.

Coombs test

The Coombs test is performed to find certain proteins that attack red blood cells. Zedocef 100 MG Drops may give a false-positive result for the coombs test.
You can give Zedocef 100 MG Drops with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Shake the bottle well before use. Measure the dose of the medicine carefully using a measuring device. Make sure that your child takes the necessary volume of Zedocef 100 MG Drops. Never give more than the prescribed dose to your child. Give the medicine at the same time daily. Make sure that your child completes the entire course of this medicine even if the symptoms disappear after few days. If your child discontinues this medicine, there is a chance that the infection may occur again. Also, Zedocef 100 MG Drops may lose its effectiveness in killing the bacteria. Do not recommend this medicine to other parents even if their child's condition appears to be the same.
