Starbact GM Cream is a medicine with the combination of clobetasol, gentamycin, miconazole and zinc sulphate. It is used for the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections of the skin. It works by killing or stopping the growth of microorganisms that causes infection. It provides relief from symptoms of infection like swelling, redness etc. Starbact GM Cream causes some side effects which include itching, dryness, redness, and burning sensation at the site of application. Seek medical help if you experience any symptoms of an allergic reaction like rashes, itching, swelling, shortness of breath. Your doctor may perform a patch test before starting treatment with this cream as it can cause skin allergy. Starbact GM Cream can be applied as thin layer on the affected areas of the skin with clean and dry hands. This cream is meant for external use only. Avoid direct contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, or other smooth muscles, in case of accidental contact wash immediately with water. Starbact GM Cream is not recommended for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. It is recommended to take this antibiotic cream only with the doctor's prescription. Complete the entire treatment course to get its maximum benefits and to prevent the development of bacterial resistance. What is it prescribed for?

Bacterial skin infections

Bacteria enters into the skin through cuts or scratches causing bacterial skin infections such as cellulitis, impetigo ( a contagious skin infection that mainly affects infants and young children), folliculitis (a skin condition in which hair follicles become swollen) that are characterised by redness, warmth, swelling, itching and irritation of the skin. This cream is used to kill bacteria and provide relief from such conditions.

Mixed secondary skin infections

Starbact GM Cream is used for the treatment of mixed secondary infections like dermatoses. It helps in the treatment of dermatoses (bacterial and fungal infections of the skin) caused by excessive use of steroids.

Dermatitis

Dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin characterized by itching, rash, and redness of the skin. Dermatitis is of various types such as atopic dermatitis (eczema), contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, etc. All these types of dermatitis are caused due to different factors such as allergic reaction, gene abnormalities, non-resolving skin injury and auto-immunity. How it works

It is a combination of Clobetasol, Miconazole, Gentamycin and Zinc sulfate: Clobetasol is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers which causes redness, swelling and itching of the skin. Miconazole is an antifungal that prevents fungi from building their cell walls which are necessary for their survival. Gentamycin is an antibiotic that blocks the process of protein formation that is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Zinc sulfate mainly smoothens the skin and helps in the healing process.
