Septriol Capsule

Manufactured bySEPTALYST LIFESCIENCES PVT LTD
ContainsCalcitriol
CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

Description

Septriol Capsule contains Calcitriol which is a synthetic analogue of vitamin D. It is used in the treatment of calcium deficiencies in the body associated with hypocalcaemia (a condition with low calcium levels in the blood) and hypoparathyroidism (when the parathyroid glands located in the neck does not produce enough of parathyroid hormone). Septriol Capsule is also used in the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism (overproduction of parathyroid hormone), renal osteodystrophy (skeletal abnormalities occurring in people with severe kidney problems) and postmenopausal osteoporosis (a bone condition causing weak and brittle bones that develops after menopause in women). Septriol Capsule helps in regulating the absorption of calcium in the body. Septriol Capsule may have side effects like headache, abdominal pain, increased calcium levels, dry mouth, nausea, etc. These side effects may subside over time. Consult your doctor if they persist or worsen. Avoid taking Septriol Capsule if you are allergic to it. Septriol Capsule should be taken as directed by your doctor. This capsule can be taken with or without food. The dose of medicine and duration of treatment will be decided by your doctor based on your clinical conditions. Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Septriol Capsule. Avoid drinking alcohol during the treatment with Septriol Capsule as it may decrease the absorption of calcium in the body. Septriol Capsule is recommended for use in children only if prescribed by your paediatrician. Avoid using this medicine if you have high calcium or vitamin D levels in the body. Inform your doctor about your current medications including any Vitamin D supplement you are taking, and about any health condition you have before starting the treatment with this medicine. This will help your doctor adjust the dose to avoid undesired effects. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking Septriol Capsule.

Renal Osteodystrophy

Hypoparathyroidism

Hypoparathyroidism is a condition of low levels of parathyroid hormone (a chemical substance that helps maintain a balance of calcium and phosphorus in the body). This condition may lead to decreased calcium levels and increased phosphorus levels in the blood. Septriol Capsule is used in the treatment of hypoparathyroidism.

Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

Secondary hyperparathyroidism is a condition with excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone (PTH) in response to low blood levels of calcium in the body. This condition mainly occurs due to severe kidney failure resulting in vitamin D deficiency. Septriol Capsule is used in the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism.

Postmenopausal osteoporosis

Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a bone condition that occurs after menopause (the end of a woman's menstrual cycles). It may occur due to decreased estrogen (a hormone that plays an important role in maintaining sexual and reproductive health in women) levels in the body leading to bone disorders.
