Description

Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is an antibiotic. It is used orally to treat different types of bacterial infections of the throat, lungs, ears, nose, urinary tract, and skin. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is also used with other medications to stop the growth and kill Helicobacter pylori bacteria that cause stomach ulcer(s). It is not effective against infections caused by viruses or fungus. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule shows side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Drink an adequate amount of water to prevent dehydration as this medicine may cause diarrhoea. Avoid taking this medicine if you have a known allergy to it and discontinue if any allergic reactions (skin rash, hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), swelling of face, lips, etc.) are experienced. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule can be taken with or without food, and at the same time every day to ensure its better efficacy. Take the capsule as a whole without crushing or breaking it. Make sure that the course of antibiotic treatment is completed as directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule on your own even if you feel better. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule should be used cautiously by individuals with kidney problems, heart and liver problems. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule can make birth control pills less effective. You may be asked to use a different birth control method to prevent unintended pregnancy. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule can interact with other medicines. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines before starting the treatment with this capsule. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding before taking Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule.

What is it prescribed for?

Acute otitis media

Acute Otitis media (AOM), is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), common in infants and young children. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is the swelling of membranes that line your nose and surrounding sinuses. It is often caused by bacteria and sometimes, viruses and fungi. You may experience a stuffed nose and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.

Lung infections

Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat the following lung infections: 1. Pneumonia:- It is an infection of the air sacs in the lungs (either single or both lungs). It can be bacterial and viral. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat pneumonia caused by bacteria. 2. Bronchitis:- It is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.

Skin and soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat all skin infections including abscess (puss pockets) caused by bacteria.

Cystitis

Cystitis is the swelling of the urinary bladder usually caused by a bacterial infection. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat cystitis caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, and Klebsiella species.

Gonorrhoea

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria that infects both men and women. It spreads during vaginal, oral or anal sex, without protection. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat the gonococcal infection.

Peptic Ulcer

A peptic ulcer is a sore on the lining of your stomach or intestine. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a bacteria that cause ulcers. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used in combination with antacids/anti-ulcerative medicines for the treatment of H. pylori infections that cause peptic ulcer(s).

Dental Abcess

A tooth abscess is a bacterial infection that occurs from an untreated cavity, decay, or injury. Your dentist will make a small cut into the abscess to drain out the pus resulting from the infection. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat bacterial tooth infections and to stop it from spreading further.

Bacterial Endocarditis

Bacterial endocarditis is an infection in the inner lining of the heart caused by bacteria. It occurs when bacteria from another part of your body travel through the blood and attach to damaged areas of your heart. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat bacterial endocarditis.

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis (when the infection affects both, the pharynx and the tonsils).

Typhoid fever

Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella Typhi. This bacteria is spread through contaminated food or water by a human carrier. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat typhoid fever.

Pyelonephritis

Pyelonephritis is the swelling of the kidneys due to bacterial infection. This infection starts in your urethra or bladder and spreads through the ureters to the kidneys. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used to treat Pyelonephritis.

Allergic reaction

Antibiotic resistance

Finish the entire course of treatment with Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule, even if your condition gets better, to avoid antibiotic resistance (a condition where infection-causing organisms develop the ability to defeat the effect of drugs designed to kill them). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Diarrhoea

Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or operating machinery

Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule may cause dizziness, confusion, or fits in some people. Do not drive vehicles or operate machines after taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule dose, make sure that you remember to take your next dose on time. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Overdose

Mononucleosis

Mononucleosis (kissing disease) is an infection caused by Epstein-Barr virus. It is spread through saliva. People with mononucleosis may develop a maculopapular skin rash (flat and small raised bumps on the skin) after 5-10 days of treatment with Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule that resolves within days of discontinuing the use. Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule may not be appropriate medicine in people with mononucleosis.

Colitis

Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule with extreme caution in case of gastrointestinal (stomach and intestine) diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), since it may worsen your condition.

Kidney Disease

Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is filtered by the kidney and moved out of your body through urine. You will need special consideration if you have kidney problems. Taking this medicine while you have pre-existing kidney problems will lead to further damage. Dose adjustment will be done by your doctor based on your clinical condition.

Urine Sugar Test

Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is moved out from the body via urine. High urine concentrations of Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule might give a false-positive result for the urine sugar test (test to determine the presence of glucose). Inform your doctor or lab technician about the use of Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule before doing this test.
Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule is used orally for treating bacterial infections and it is proven to be safe and effective. Take Pulmoxyl 250 MG Capsule with or without food. Never take more than the prescribed dose. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat. You should not give your medicine to other people even if their condition appears to be the same as yours. Do not crush, break or chew the capsule in your mouth.
