Description

Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment is a synthetic form of vitamin D. It is used for the treatment of plaque psoriasis (a skin condition characterized by thick red patches of skin, and a white/silver scaly layer). It works by slowing down the excessive production of skin cells. Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment may cause burning sensation, itching, irritation and redness of your skin at the site of application. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or worsen. Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment should be applied topically to the affected part of your skin as directed by your doctor. Continue using this medicine for the prescribed duration to avoid a flare-up of your symptoms. Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment should be avoided if you are allergic to it. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below six years of age. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are planning a pregnancy, consult your doctor before using this medication.

What is it prescribed for?

Plaque Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic (long-term) autoimmune condition (your immune system malfunctions and attacks healthy cells of your body) that causes your cells to multiply faster than normal. This causes a buildup of skin cells, resulting in scaling on your skin’s surface. The most characteristic symptom is the presence of a skin rash with red, itchy, scaly patches (usually on your knees, elbows, and scalp). Plaque psoriasis, also known as psoriasis vulgaris, is a type of psoriasis with thick red patches of skin, characterized by a white/silver scaly layer. Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment is used in the treatment of plaque psoriasis.

Exposure to sunlight

Missed Dose

Overdose

Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment is meant for external use only. Use this medicine as directed by your doctor. Do not apply Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment to your face, as this medicine may cause skin irritation. Close the cover of the tube immediately after use to keep it clean and free from contamination. Do not wipe or rinse the tip of the tube. Use Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment at around the same time every day for ease of remembrance. Do not discontinue the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not cover the application area with bandages or other coverings. Do not give Pasitrex 0.005 % Ointment to others even if their condition appears to be the same as yours.
