Otrivin Alert 5 MG Tablet is an antihistamine medicine that contains Desloratadine. It is used to relieve allergy symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, redness and swelling of the nose, watery eyes, itching, rash etc. It is also used in the treatment of urticaria (red, itchy welts that result from a skin reaction). Otrivin Alert 5 MG Tablet stops the action of a natural substance called histamine produced in your body due to an allergic reaction. Otrivin Alert 5 MG Tablet may cause side effects like sleepiness, fever, rash, weakness, etc. These effects may subside when your body adapts to this medicine. However, inform your doctor if any of these side effects persist for a long time or worsen. This medicine may also cause dizziness or drowsiness. Hence, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking Otrivin Alert 5 MG Tablet. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. Otrivin Alert 5 MG Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose and duration of the treatment will be decided by your doctor based on your condition. For the ease of remembering, take this medicine around the same time every day. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor. Otrivin Alert 5 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart problems and also about your ongoing medicines, before starting the treatment with this medicine.
