Description
Otocin D Eye/Ear Drops is a combination of Chloramphenicol, Polymyxin B, and Dexamethasone. This medicine is used to treat eye and ear infections caused by bacteria. It works by killing the infection-causing bacteria. It also reduces pain and swelling associated with an infection. This medicine is effective only for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria and not viruses or fungi.
Otocin D Eye/Ear Drops may cause some side effects like burning sensation, irritation, and dryness of the eyes. These symptoms usually subside on their own. However, consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or if they become severe.
Otocin D Eye/Ear Drops is meant for use in eyes and ears only. It should be instilled as prescribed by your doctor. Continue taking this medicine for the prescribed duration. Skipping doses or not completing the full course of treatment may increase the risk of re-infection that would be difficult to treat in the future.

Ocular Toxicities
Otocin D Eye/Ear Drops should be used with caution if you have a history of cataract (clouding of the lens of the eyes leading to blurred vision) or glaucoma (an eye condition that occurs due to increased pressure in the eyes) as it may worsen your condition. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor your intraocular pressure (pressure within your eyes) if this medicine is prescribed for more than 10 days.
Perforated eardrum
A perforated eardrum is a condition with a hole or tears in the tissue that separates your ear canal from your eardrum (middle ear). It can result in hearing loss and also make your middle ear vulnerable to infections. Otocin D Eye/Ear Drops should be used with caution if you have a perforated eardrum due to the increased risk of toxicity.
