Description
Nodosis-DS Tablet is used as an antacid that helps in neutralizing stomach acid during indigestion and heartburn. It works by increasing the pH of your blood and urine, which corrects metabolic acidosis (high acid levels in your body).
Nodosis-DS Tablet is available on prescription in oral, injection and ear drop forms. The tablet form is used as an antacid which helps in neutralizing stomach acid during indigestion and heartburn. Injection form is used in the treatment of metabolic acidosis resulting from many clinical conditions. The ear drop form is used to soften the dry and hardened ear wax.
Nodosis-DS Tablet may cause some side effects like dry mouth, increased thirst; or urinating more than usual. Inform your doctor if these side effects persist for a long time.
Nodosis-DS Tablet is not recommended in children below 12 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have any stomach, kidney or liver troubles before taking this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

What is it prescribed for?
Metabolic Acidosis
Nodosis-DS Tablet is used in the treatment of an excess acidic condition of the body resulting from many clinical conditions such as severe dehydration, kidney dysfunction, severe diarrhoea, heart problems, etc.
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Nodosis-DS Tablet is used in the treatment of a diabetes complication called Diabetic ketoacidosis, a condition of a buildup of acids (ketones) in the blood.
Urine alkalinization
Nodosis-DS Tablet is used for urine alkalinization which helps to increase the excretion of toxic substances from your kidneys.
Indigestion
Indigestion is a condition characterised by stomach discomfort, such as a burning sensation, bloating, nausea, or feeling full too soon after starting to eat. By decreasing the amount of acid in your stomach, Nodosis-DS Tablet treats indigestion and thereby provides relief from its symptoms. Nodosis-DS Tablet also relieves excess gas by breaking trapped gas and allowing it to pass easily.
Hyperkalemia
Nodosis-DS Tablet is used to correct the blood potassium levels in hyperkalemia (Increased blood potassium levels).

Allergy

Sodium and water retention
Nodosis-DS Tablet can cause sodium and water retention, resulting in hypernatremia (high level of sodium in your blood), hypokalemia (low blood potassium levels), and worsening of congestive heart failure/heart attack. Hence, take this medicine with caution if you have any preexisting conditions.
Kidney impairment
Nodosis-DS Tablet should be used with caution if you have kidney problems. Long term use of this medicine can lead to progressive kidney damage.
Liver impairment
Nodosis-DS Tablet should be used with caution if you have liver problems as this medicine may damage your liver further leading to side effects.
Missed Dose
Oral Form: If you have missed taking Nodosis-DS Tablet at a scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose, skip the dose. Avoid taking two doses together at once to make up for the missed one.
Parenteral Form: Since Nodosis-DS Tablet is usually administered by a qualified healthcare professional in the clinical/hospital setting, the likelihood of a missed dose is very low.
