Description
Nateglinide is a medicine used to control high blood sugar levels in adults with Type II Diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, the body either does not produce enough insulin or resists insulin. This medicine works by increasing the production of insulin in your body.
Nateglinide has some side effects like headache, runny nose, dizziness, thirst, increased urination, constipation, diarrhoea, joint pain, and back pain. These symptoms may subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if they bother you. This medicine may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels), therefore always carry a sugar candy to balance the sugar levels while on treatment with this medicine. Avoid driving vehicles and operating machines after taking this medicine as it may affect your concentration.
Nateglinide should be taken 30 minutes before a meal or as prescribed by your doctor. The dose and duration of the treatment depend on the severity of your condition. Take this medicine every day at the same time for the ease of remembering and for better results. Do not take more than the prescribed dose.
Nateglinide is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have Type 1 diabetes (a condition in which your immune system destroys insulin-making cells in your pancreas), liver, and kidney problems before starting the treatment with this medicine. Allergy
