Description

Natclovir 250 mg Capsule is an antiviral medicine used for the prevention of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection which may occur after organ transplantation and in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It is also used as an alternative for the maintenance treatment of CMV eye infection in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) after the condition has been controlled by the intravenous form of ganciclovir. This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of seizure disorders due to the increased risk of recurrent seizures.

What is it prescribed for?

Cytomegalovirus Retinitis (CMV)

This medicine is used for the maintenance treatment of Cytomegalovirus Retinitis (a viral eye infection of the retina caused due Cytomegalovirus which may result in blindness) in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) after the condition has been controlled by the intravenous form of ganciclovir.

Cytomegalovirus Prophylaxis

This medicine is used for the prevention of Cytomegalovirus infection in patients who have undergone organ transplantation and are at risk of CMV disease.
