Description
Minirin 0.2 Tablet is a man-made form of the hormone present in the body known as vasopressin. This medicine is used to treat diabetes insipidus (a condition where your body produces too much urine and characterised by intense thirst and frequent urination), nocturnal polyuria (excessive urination at night in adults), and nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting in children).
Minirin 0.2 Tablet works by reducing the production of urine by the kidneys and helps in the conservation of water in the body. Thus it helps to reduce the frequency of urination and prevent dehydration.
Minirin 0.2 Tablet shows side effects such as dry mouth, headache, nausea, and mild stomach pain. These side effects usually subside with time. However, if they persist or worsen, consult your doctor for further assistance. Avoid driving vehicles or operating heavy machines if you feel dizzy while taking this medicine.
Minirin 0.2 Tablet can be taken with or without food. Do not break, crush, or chew the tablet. Swallow the tablet with a glass of water. Follow the instructions given by your doctor about the dose and duration of treatment. Limit the amount of fluid intake while taking this medicine. Also, avoid the consumption of alcohol or caffeine during treatment with this medicine.
Minirin 0.2 Tablet is not recommended if you are allergic to it or if you have kidney problems or low sodium levels in the body. It should be used with caution if you have heart failure (inability of the heart to pump enough blood), high blood pressure, syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (a condition in which high levels of a hormone cause water retention in your body), an adrenal gland condition (abnormal production of a hormone by the adrenal gland, small, triangular-shaped glands located on top of both kidneys), or von Willebrand condition (a bleeding disorder in which the blood does not clot properly).
Minirin 0.2 Tablet should only be used in pregnancy after consulting with your doctor. It is unknown if this medicine passes into breastmilk. Hence, consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are breastfeeding. Use this medicine with caution if you are over 65 years of age.
