Description

Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is a combination of Cefpodoxime and Clavulanic Acid. It is used to treat bacterial infections affecting your lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin and urinary tract. This medicine works by killing the bacteria, thereby preventing the further spread of infection. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet shows some common side effects such as diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Inform your doctor if any of these side effects remain for a long time or become severe. This medicine may also cause dizziness, so avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet can be taken with or without food. For the ease of remembering, take this medicine at the same time every day. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. Do not take this medicine without consulting your doctor as unnecessary use of an antibiotic may cause the bacteria to become resistant to antibiotics. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have seizures (a condition that occurs due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain causing jerky movements), or liver, kidney, stomach, or intestinal problems. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

What is it prescribed for?

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria. It is also used to treat a sudden worsening of chronic bronchitis (a long-lasting form of bronchitis) and subsequent bronchitis episodes that frequently occur after initial recovery.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is the swelling of membranes that line your nose and surrounding sinuses. Sinuses are hollow spaces located behind your nose and cheekbones, between your eyes, and at the lower end of your forehead. It is often caused by bacteria and sometimes by viruses and fungi. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.

Community acquired pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria.

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngotonsillitis (infection affecting both the throat and the tonsils).

Urinary Tract Infection

An infection in any part of your urinary system (kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra) is called a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are caused by bacteria and in some cases, viruses or fungi. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.

Skin and Skin Structure Infection

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet is used to treat all skin infections including abscesses (painful swelling that contains pus) caused by bacteria.

Diarrhoea

Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Inform your doctor if you experience severe diarrhoea while taking this medicine.

Antibiotic resistance

Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria develop the ability to defeat the medicine that was intended to kill them. Hence, complete the entire course of treatment with Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet even if you feel better after a few doses to avoid antibiotic resistance.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to compensate for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose of Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose, seek emergency medical attention for further guidance.

Hence, Microcef CV (100/62.5 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have kidney problems as it can increase the risk of kidney damage.
