Description

Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is a penicillin-type antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. This antibiotic is used to treat different types of bacterial infections of the throat, lungs, ears, nose, urinary tract, and skin. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is also used with other medications to kill helicobacter pylori bacteria that cause stomach ulcers. It stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Side effects of Hipenp 125 MG Syrup are diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin. Use it cautiously in individuals with kidney problems. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup can make birth control pills less effective. You may be asked to take a different way of birth control methods to prevent unintended pregnancy. You can take Hipenp 125 MG Syrup with or without food. For the ease of remembering, take Hipenp 125 MG Syrup around the same time every day. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. For the best results, take this antibiotic at evenly spaced times.

What is it prescribed for?

Acute otitis media

Otitis media (AOM), is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), common in infants and young children. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria.

Sinusitis

Sinusitis is the swelling of membranes that line your nose and surrounding sinuses. It is often caused by bacteria and sometimes, viruses and fungi. You may experience a stuffed nose and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.

Lung infections

Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat the following lung infections: 1. Pneumonia is an infection of the air sacs in the lungs (either single or both lungs). It can be bacterial and viral. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat pneumonia caused by bacteria. 2. Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.

Skin and soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.

Cystitis

Cystitis is the swelling of the urinary bladder usually caused by a bacterial infection. This is more common in women because their urethra is much shorter, which means bacteria can go into the bladder more easily. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat cystitis caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, and Klebsiella species.

Peptic Ulcer

A peptic ulcer is a sore or ulcer on the lining of your stomach or intestine. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a bacteria that cause ulcers. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used in combination with antacids/anti-ulcerative medicines for the treatment of H. pylori infections that cause peptic ulcer.

Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. If this infection affects both the throat and the tonsils, then it would be called pharyngotonsillitis. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis.

Pyelonephritis

Pyelonephritis is the swelling of the kidneys due to bacterial infection. This infection starts in your urethra or bladder and spreads through the ureters to the kidneys. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is used to treat Pyelonephritis. You will start feeling better within a few days after taking Hipenp 125 MG Syrup.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Hipenp 125 MG Syrup, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Diarrhoea

Hipenp 125 MG Syrup can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or operating machinery

Mononucleosis

Mononucleosis is also called as kissing disease is an infection caused by Epstein-Barr virus. It is spread through saliva. People with mononucleosis may develop a maculopapular skin rash (flat and small raised bumps on the skin) after 5-10 days of treatment with Hipenp 125 MG Syrup and resolves within days of discontinuing the use. Hipenp 125 MG Syrup may not be appropriate medicine in patients with mononucleosis.

Colitis

Hipenp 125 MG Syrup can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use Hipenp 125 MG Syrup with extreme caution in patients with gastrointestinal (mouth to anus) diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Kidney Disease

Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is filtered by the kidney and moved out of the body through urine. Patients with kidney diseases need special consideration while taking Hipenp 125 MG Syrup due to the risk of kidney damage. Dose adjustment should be done based on the clinical condition.

Urine Sugar Test

Hipenp 125 MG Syrup is moved out from the body via urine. High urine concentrations of Hipenp 125 MG Syrup might give a false-positive result for the urine sugar test (test to determine the presence of glucose). Inform your doctor or lab technician about the use of Hipenp 125 MG Syrup before doing this test.
Take Hipenp 125 MG Syrup with or without food. Never take more than the prescribed dose. Take this syrup at around the same time daily.
