Halox 0.05 % Ointment is a topical medicine that is used to treat skin conditions such as eczema (thick, dry, and itchy skin) and dermatitis (irritation of the skin), psoriasis (a condition in which skin cells build up and cause dry, itchy, and scaly patches), etc. Halox 0.05 % Ointment works by blocking the action of certain chemicals in your body that cause swelling, itching, and irritation. Halox 0.05 % Ointment may cause side effects such as thinning of the skin, redness, itching, irritation, burning sensation, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms do not subside on their own or become severe. Avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to it. Halox 0.05 % Ointment is for external use only. Apply the medicine to the affected areas as instructed by your doctor. Do not apply more than the prescribed quantity of this medicine. Avoid contact with your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and open wounds. In case of accidental contact, wash thoroughly with water. Halox 0.05 % Ointment is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age. Inform your doctor if you are using other topical medications or have any other skin conditions. Hyperadrenocorticism, also known as Cushing's syndrome, is a condition that occurs due to high levels of cortisol (a chemical substance that helps your body respond to stress, regulate blood sugar, and fight infections) in the body. High doses of Halox 0.05 % Ointment should be used with caution as it may cause or worsen hyperadrenocorticism, in rare cases.

Ocular Toxicities

Prolonged use of high doses of Halox 0.05 % Ointment may cause cataracts (a cloudy layer that forms in the lens of the eye) or increased fluid pressure inside the eye. Hence, it should be used with caution if you have a history of cataracts or glaucoma (an eye condition with abnormally high pressure inside the eye that may lead to vision loss). Inform your doctor if you have a history of such eye problems.
