Description

Enclox 250 MG Capsule is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections that affect the skin, joints, lungs, or urinary tract. This capsule is effective against a large number of bacteria. It kills or prevents the growth of bacteria in the body. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Common side effects of Enclox 250 MG Capsule are diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Enclox 250 MG Capsule can cause muscle damage, usually in the ankle. It should only be used to treat or prevent infections that are caused by bacteria. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. You can take Enclox 250 MG Capsule with or without food. For the ease of remembering, take this capsule around the same time every day.

What is it prescribed for?

Community-Acquired Pneumonia

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria like Mycoplasma pneumonia, Streptococcus pneumonia, Haemophilus influenzae, etc.

Bronchitis

Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in the lungs. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.

Cystitis

Cystitis is the swelling of the urinary bladder usually caused by a bacterial infection. This is more common in women because their urethra is much shorter, which means bacteria can go into the bladder more easily. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used to treat cystitis caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, and Klebsiella species.

Prostatitis

Prostatitis is the swelling of the prostate gland located under the bladder in men. This gland produces the fluid semen, that carries sperm. It affects men of all ages and more common in men 50 or below. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used to treat prostatitis caused by a bacterial infection.

Gonococcal infection

Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria that infects both men and women. It spreads during vaginal, oral or anal sex without a condom or other barrier method. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used to treat the gonococcal infection.

Joint infection

Bacterial joint infection or septic arthritis is a painful condition of joints that require antibiotics to treat. Bacteria can get into your joint causing infection which leads to pain, swelling, redness, and loss of movement. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used to treat joint infections caused by bacteria.

Pneumonia with cystic fibrosis

Pneumonia with cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease or genetic disease that causes thick mucus to build up in the lungs and initiates the growth of bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus and Hemophilus influenza. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used to treat this condition.

Pyelonephriits

Pyelonephritis is the swelling of the kidneys due to bacterial infection. This infection starts in your urethra or bladder and spreads through the ureters to the kidneys. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used to treat pyelonephritis.

Inhalation Anthrax

Anthrax is a rare but serious bacterial illness caused by Bacillus anthracis. It is transmitted through air, food, and water contaminated with anthrax spores. Enclox 250 MG Capsule is used for the treatment of inhalation anthrax that occurs when you breathe in anthrax spores.

Allergy

Tendinitis or tendon rupture

Enclox 250 MG Capsule can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Do not use Enclox 250 MG Capsule if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone).

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a skeletal muscle weakness condition characterized by severe weakness of any of the muscles under your voluntary control, including the arms and legs. Enclox 250 MG Capsule should be avoided in patients with myasthenia gravis since it may get worsen.

Muscle damage

Enclox 250 MG Capsule can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround the ankle. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Enclox 250 MG Capsule, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Driving or operating machinery

Enclox 250 MG Capsule may cause dizziness, confusion, or disorientation and hence do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms.

Diarrhoea

Enclox 250 MG Capsule can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Enclox 250 MG Capsule. And if a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.

Use Enclox 250 MG Capsule with caution in patients with nerve problems, seizures, depression, and psychotic reactions. Enclox 250 MG Capsule can trigger these conditions and inform your doctor immediately if these reactions occur.

Gastrointestinal Diseases

Use Enclox 250 MG Capsule with extreme caution in patients with gastrointestinal (mouth to anus) diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), since it may worsen the patient's condition.

QT Prolongation

Enclox 250 MG Capsule may cause heart rhythm problem called prolonged QT intervals (an electrical heartbeat disturbance) in some patients who are taking heart medications. It may result in fast, rapid, and irregular heartbeats.

Impaired kidney function

Patients with kidney diseases need special consideration while taking Enclox 250 MG Capsule due to the risk of kidney damage. Dose adjustment should be done based on the clinical condition.

Food interactions

Enclox 250 MG Capsule will not show its desired effects if consumed with dairy products (yoghurt and curd). At least two hours gap should be maintained between Enclox 250 MG Capsule and dairy products.
