Description

Defcort TM Tablet is a combination of Tamsulosin and Deflazacort. It is used to treat kidney stones. It works by relaxing the muscles of your bladder which eases urine flow and reduces pain, swelling, and other symptoms of inflammation associated with kidney stones. Defcort TM Tablet can cause some side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, back pain, sleep problems, decreased interest in sex, etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects are persistent or getting worse. Avoid activities like driving vehicles and operating machines as this medicine can make you dizzy. Defcort TM Tablet should be taken with food. Take it at the same time every day for the ease of remembering. Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water. This medicine is effective and safe if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Avoid taking more or less than the recommended dose. Defcort TM Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age due to a lack of data on safety and efficacy. Inform your doctor if you have liver problems or any other medical conditions. Kidney stones are small and hard deposits made of minerals and salts that form in one or both of your kidneys. Kidney stones usually form when there is a reduction in urine volume or an excess of these minerals and salts in the urine. Defcort TM Tablet is used to treat kidney stones.

Cataract surgery

Cataract surgery is an eye surgery performed to replace the lens in your eyes with an artificial lens to correct the blurring of vision. Defcort TM Tablet increases the risk of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome (a complication of cataract surgery leading to the small pupil in the eye). Inform your doctor about the use of this medicine before undergoing surgery.

Gastro-intestinal disease

Defcort TM Tablet may cause gastrointestinal perforation (holes in the stomach lining), ulcers, and bleeding when given in high dosages or for a prolonged time. Use this medicine with caution if you have gastrointestinal (stomach and intestine) diseases. Consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

Ocular Toxicities

Defcort TM Tablet should be used with caution if you have a history of eye problems as it can lead to glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eyes), or damage to the optic (eye) nerve resulting in impaired vision. Myasthenia Gravis

Psychosis

Defcort TM Tablet may cause side effects like inability to sleep, mood swings, behavioural changes, etc. Hence, close monitoring for any change in behaviour or mood may be necessary as it may sometimes aggravate the symptoms of psychosis (a mental disorder with disruptions to a person's thoughts) and emotional instability. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any depressed mood or suicidal thoughts.

Fluid Retention and edema

Use of Defcort TM Tablet is not recommended if you have a history of angioedema (swelling in the lower layer of your skin). In such cases, you may be at an increased risk of angioedema while receiving the treatment. Consult with your doctor if you have any concerns.

Impaired liver function
