Description

Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that can be used as an eye and ear drop based on your doctor's instruction. As an eyedrop, this antibiotic is used to treat infections of the cornea (a transparent layer that covers the front part of the eye) and conjunctivitis or pink eye caused by bacteria. As an eardrop, this antibiotic is used to treat outer and middle ear infections caused by bacteria. It is also used to prevent ear infections after ear surgery. Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops is effective against a large number of bacteria. It kills or prevents the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against eye infections caused by viruses. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. For the ease of remembering, use this eye/ear drop around the same time every day. You should wash your hands properly before administering Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops. Do not touch the tip of the dropper. Follow all the usage instructions mentioned on the label and administer the drops into the affected organ exactly as directed. You will start to feel better in a couple of days after using this ciprofloxacin eye/ear drop.

What is it prescribed for?

Bacterial Conjunctivitis

Bacterial conjunctivitis or pink eye is a bacterial eye infection affecting the conjunctiva (a clear tissue covering the white part of your eye and lines the inside of the eyelid). This infection can easily spread by direct or indirect contact with an infected person. It is more common in children and can be treated quickly in a couple of days. Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops is used in the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis.

Corneal Ulcers

At the front of the eye is a transparent layer of tissue called the cornea that allows light to enter the eye. A corneal ulcer is a small ulcer of the cornea, that occurs from an infection caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. More often it occurs in contact lens wearers. A small scratch, scrape or cut on the cornea caused by wearing contact lenses too long can cause infection. Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops is used in the treatment of corneal ulcers caused by bacteria.

Otitis Externa

Otitis externa or Swimmer’s ear is an infection in the ear canal, which connects the outside of the ear to the eardrum. This outer ear infection can occur due to many reasons. The water remaining in the ear after swimming or bathing can increase the chances of bacterial growth. Normally, earwax helps to protect the ear canal from infection. Putting fingers, cotton swabs or other objects to clean your ears, can rub away the earwax or scratch your skin. This allows germs to grow and leads to infection. Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops is used for the treatment of otitis externa caused by bacteria. You will start to feel better in 5 to 7 days after using this ciprofloxacin eye or ear drops.

General warnings

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel ill after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Driving or operating machinery

Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops may cause short term blurring of vision, burning sensation or discomfort in the eyes when it is used. You should be cautious about these symptoms before driving a vehicle or operating machinery.

Contact lens

Do not wear contact lenses when you are suffering from an eye infection.

Use in children

Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops is not recommended for use in children less than 1 year of age unless directed by your doctor.

Contamination

Do not touch the tip of the dropper or any other surface while administering Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops as this may lead to contamination of this medicine.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Ciplox 0.3% Eye/Ear Drops. And if a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.
