Description

Buserelin is used for the treatment of hormone-dependent advanced cancer of the prostate. It is also used either alone or in a combination with other medicines to treat certain hormone-dependent conditions such as endometriosis and infertility (assisted reproduction -IVF). This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

What is it prescribed for?

Prostate cancer

This medicine is used for the treatment of advanced hormone-dependent cancer of the prostate. However, it should not be used in cases where the testicles are surgically removed (bilateral orchiectomy).

Endometriosis

This medicine is used for the treatment of endometriosis, a painful condition where the tissue that normally lines the wall of the uterus grows outside of it. However, it should be used only in cases where surgery is not necessary.

Assisted reproductive technique

This medicine is also used in a combination with other medicines to treat infertility. Administration of this medicine is followed by synthetic hormones to artificially stimulate ovulation.
