Description

Biovorin 15 Tablet is a medicine that contains Leucovorin. It is used to prevent the harmful effects of methotrexate (anticancer medicine). It is also used in the treatment of methotrexate overdose. It also increases the effectiveness of certain anti-cancer medicines such as 5-fluorouracil. This medicine works by protecting healthy cells from the toxic effects of methotrexate. Biovorin 15 Tablet is generally a safe medicine with no common side effects when used in the prescribed dosage. However, consult your doctor if you experience any undesirable effects after taking it. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Biovorin 15 Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take this medicine in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor. Follow all the instructions given by your doctor and do not take more than the prescribed dose. Your doctor may suggest regular blood tests to monitor your blood cells and serum methotrexate concentration in your blood. Biovorin 15 Tablet may not be suitable for all people. What is it prescribed for?

Methotrexate rescue

Biovorin 15 Tablet is used to prevent the harmful effects of methotrexate that is used for the treatment of cancer. It is also used to counteract the effects of impaired methotrexate elimination or accidental overdosage.

Folic acid antagonist overdose

Biovorin 15 Tablet is also used to replenish folic acid in your body and reduce the toxicity caused due to the administration of folic acid antagonists such as Aminopterin, Pyrimethamine, Trimethoprim, Triamterene, etc. It is also used to counteract the toxic effects caused due to an accidental overdose of these medicines.

Megaloblastic anaemia

Megaloblastic anaemia is a decreased larger red blood cell count. It is caused by a deficiency of folic acid (Vitamin B9) due to malnourishment, liver disorder, pregnancy, or a reduced ability to absorb folic acid from the diet. Biovorin 15 Tablet is used to treat anaemia caused due to folic acid deficiency.
