Description

Betnovate-GM Cream is used to treat skin infections responsive to steroids and where bacterial or fungal infections exist. It also helps to relieve redness, swelling, and itching associated with skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema or ichthyosis. Betnovate-GM Cream may rarely cause burning, irritation, itching, and redness at the application site. These symptoms last only for a very few days and disappear with time. Do not use this cream if you are previously allergic to it. Apply a thin layer of Betnovate-GM Cream to the affected areas 1-2 times a day. Wash and dry the affected areas before application. Avoid contact with the eyes and mouth. Keep the affected area clean and dry because the presence of water can increase microbial growth. If the symptoms are not resolved within seven days, consult your doctor before continuing the treatment.

How it works

Betamethasone is a topical steroid that prevents the production of prostaglandins- the substance that causes redness, itching and swelling. Gentamicin works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls. This helps in stopping the growth and multiplication of the microorganism, eventually killing it. Miconazole kills the fungus by stopping their cell wall formation. It works by preventing the fungi from making a substance called ergosterol, which is necessary for the production of the cell wall.
