Description

Albubet Solution contains human albumin which is a major protein found in your blood. This medicine is made of plasma proteins from human blood. This medicine works by increasing plasma volume or levels of albumin in your blood. Albubet Solution is used to restore and maintain blood circulation where there is a low blood volume. Albubet Solution may cause some side effects like nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, fast heart rate, mild rash, and flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling). However; these side effects are temporary and resolve with time. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist for a long time. Albubet Solution is usually administered to the vein in the clinic or hospital by your doctor. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration. Your doctor will calculate the dose of Albubet Solution and how often you will receive it to obtain the correct levels in your blood. Albubet Solution should not be taken if you have severe anaemia (lack of red blood cells), or severe heart failure. It should be taken under your doctor's supervision if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor about any medical conditions that you have before taking this injection. Avoid consuming alcohol while you are on treatment with this medicine as it may worsen your health condition.

Uses of Albubet Solution

Cardiopulmonary Bypass Procedure

Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is a technique in which a machine temporarily takes over the function of your heart and lungs during surgery. It helps maintain blood circulation and oxygen levels in your body. Albubet Solution is used as a priming fluid prior to a cardiopulmonary bypass procedure.

Hypoalbuminaemia is a medical sign in which the level of albumin in your blood is low. Albubet Solution is used to restore plasma protein levels in people with excessive blood loss.

Plasma Exchange

Plasma exchange is a procedure in which a machine is used to separate the plasma (the liquid part of the blood) from the blood cells. Albubet Solution is used as a replacement fluid during plasma exchange treatment.

Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome

Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome is a condition associated with fluid collection in the lungs. Albubet Solution is combined with diuretics to correct the fluid overload associated with adult respiratory distress syndrome.

Paracentesis

Paracentesis is a procedure of removal of large volumes of fluid from your abdomen. Albubet Solution is used to maintain heart function in people who have undergone paracentesis.

Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn (HDN)

Hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) is a blood disorder in a fetus or newborn infant. Albubet Solution is used for the treatment of hyperbilirubinemia (a condition in which there is a build-up of bilirubin in the blood, causing yellow discolouration of the eyes and skin, called jaundice) which occurs secondary to Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn (HDN). Albumin increases the plasma bilirubin-binding capacity, so it is used prior to or during an exchange procedure in order to remove bilirubin.
