Description

Addwize 10 mg Tablet is used to treat symptoms of attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) in children and adults. It may improve focus and decrease impulsive and hyperactive behavior. It may also be used to treat a sleep disorder called narcolepsy. This medicine has high abuse potential and hence, therapy should be a part of the treatment program that also includes counseling and support.

What is it prescribed for?

Attention-deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD)

This medicine is used for the treatment of attention-deficit hyperactive disorder in children and adults. This medicine may improve focus and decrease impulsivity and hyperactive behavior. It should only be used for children above 6 years of age and for adults up to 65 years of age.

Narcolepsy

This medicine is used for the treatment of narcolepsy, a sleep disorder that causes excessive daytime sleepiness and sudden attacks of sleep.

Allergy

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO)

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients undergoing treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) such as selegiline, moclobemide etc. There should be a time gap of at least 14 days between stopping treatment with MAOIs and beginning treatment with this medicine to avoid their interaction.

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with an active psychiatric disorder or patients with a history of psychiatric disorders, especially in children and adolescents. Use should be discontinued if new symptoms appear or old symptoms are worsened.

Seizure disorders

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with an active seizure disorder or patients with a history of seizure disorders since the risk of worsening of the patient's condition is significantly high. Close monitoring of clinical condition, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Growth suppression

Use of this medicine may slow growth in children. It is advised to regularly monitor your child's height and weight while this medicine is being taken. Use should be discontinued if the child is not gaining height or weight.

Digestive tract disorders

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with obstructive disorders of the digestive tract. Use should be discontinued if symptoms worsen. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Abuse and dependence

This medicine has a high potential for abuse and dependence and hence should be used with extreme caution in patients with a history of drug or substance abuse.

Surgeries

Report the use of this medicine to the doctor prior to surgery. Use of this medicine should be stopped a day before the planned surgery since it may interact with the anesthetics given, causing a sudden rise in the blood pressure levels.
