Description
Acnesol 1% Gel is an anti-bacterial medicine. It is used to treat acne (a common skin condition where the pores of your skin become blocked by hair, oily substance, bacteria, and dead skin cells). This medicine works by slowing or stopping the growth of bacteria.
Acnesol 1% Gel has some common side effects such as burning sensation, itching, dryness, peeling, redness, etc., at the site of application. Contact your doctor if these side effects persist or worsen.

Acne vulgaris
Acne vulgaris is a skin condition that occurs when hair follicles are blocked by dead skin cells, bacteria, sebum (an oily, waxy substance), etc. The blocked hair follicles lead to blemished (any type of mark on the skin) skin, including pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and cysts. Acnesol 1% Gel is used to treat acne vulgaris.

Pseudomembranous colitis
Acnesol 1% Gel may get absorbed in the blood when applied to the skin and it may lead to Pseudomembranous colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the large intestine). It should be used with extreme caution if you have any gastrointestinal (stomach and intestine) condition, particularly colitis. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe diarrhoea, stomach pain, etc.
