Description

Amlonol (5/50 mg) Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension (high blood pressure). This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and effectiveness of use are not clinically established. Patients are advised to maintain a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine to get the best possible effect.

Contraindications of Amlonol (5/50 mg) Tablet

  • Allergy

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to atenolol, other beta-blockers, amlodipine, or other calcium channel blockers.
  • Cardiogenic shock

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of cardiogenic shock due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
  • Heart block greater than first degree

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients having a heart block greater than first degree due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
  • Sinus Bradycardia

    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients who are suffering from a sinus bradycardia due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

How it works

Amlodipine relaxes the heart muscles and the blood vessels. Atenolol relaxes the blood vessels and reduces the heart rate, promoting a smooth flow of the blood. Their combination is thus effective in reducing the blood pressure.
