Description
ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET is a combination of Spironolactone and Hydroflumethiazide. It is a diuretic, also known as a water pill. It works by eliminating excess water from your body through increased urination and helps treat congestive heart failure (a condition that occurs when your heart muscle cannot pump blood as well as it should). ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET may cause common side effects such as dizziness, confusion, vomiting, rash, stomach pain, indigestion, headache, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or if they become severe. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET should be taken exactly as advised by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your body. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney problems or a history of diabetes, gout (pain and swelling in joints due to accumulation of uric acid) before taking this medicine. Close evaluation with respect to your current medicines is necessary to avoid any undesired side effects. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy, consult your doctor before taking this medication.

Anuria

Anuria is a condition in which your kidneys are unable to produce urine due to a loss of kidney function. Since ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET works by increasing your urine output, the effectiveness of this medicine is reduced if you have anuria. Hence this medicine is not recommended if you have this condition.

Severe kidney disease

Severe kidney disease is a condition in which there is a loss of kidney function. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET is eliminated by kidneys and is not recommended if you have severe kidney damage due to the increased risk of side effects, resulting from the accumulation of this medicine in your body.

Addison's disease

Addison's disease is a condition of hormone deficiency. It occurs when the adrenal gland (the gland located on the top of your kidneys) is unable to function properly, resulting in reduced levels of hormones- cortisol and aldosterone. It is characterized by symptoms of extreme weakness, loss of weight, and low blood pressure. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET is not recommended if you have this condition due to a severe decrease in your blood pressure.

Hyperkalaemia

Hyperkalaemia is a condition of high blood potassium levels. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET is not recommended due to the increased risk of a severe increase in your blood potassium levels and worsening your condition.

Hypercalcaemia

Hypercalcaemia is a condition of high blood calcium levels. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET is not recommended due to the increased risk of severe side effects and worsening your condition.

General warnings

Other Medicines

ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET may interact with other medicines and may cause undesired side effects. Inform your doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs or supplements before taking this medicine.

Driving or Operating machines

ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET may cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machines if you experience any symptoms that may affect your mental alertness.

Photosensitivity

ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET should be used with caution if you have a history of skin cancer as this medicine may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight. Use sunscreen with a high sun protection factor and wear protective clothing.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.

Overdose

Do not take more dose than that is prescribed by your doctor. Contact your doctor if you suspect an overdose with ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET.

Electrolyte abnormalities

ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET is commonly associated with loss of electrolytes (potassium, sodium, chloride, bicarbonate, magnesium), which may increase your risk of arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) and heart attack. Inform your doctor if you experience any signs and symptoms of fluid or electrolyte imbalance such as dryness in your mouth, thirst, weakness, drowsiness, restlessness, muscle cramps, low blood pressure, decreased urine output, irregular heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, etc. Your fluid and electrolyte abnormalities will be corrected before beginning treatment, and blood pressure will be monitored periodically.

Severe liver disease

ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET should be used with caution if you have any pre-existing liver problems due to an increased risk of liver damage. Inform your doctor if you experience tremors (involuntary shaking movement in one or more parts of your body), confusion, jaundice (yellowing of your skin or the white part of your eyes).

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a condition in which your body's immune system attacks your own tissues and organs. Symptoms may include skin rash, fever, fatigue, joint pain, etc. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET should be used with caution if you have this condition as it may worsen your symptoms.

Diabetes

ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET should be used with caution if you have diabetes due to the increased risk of hyperglycaemia (high blood sugar levels) and glycosuria (presence of glucose/sugar in the urine). Your blood sugar levels will be closely monitored and the dose of your anti-diabetic medicines may be adjusted based on your clinical condition.

Hyperlipidaemia

Hyperlipidaemia is a condition with high blood lipid (cholesterol/fat) levels. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET may further increase your blood cholesterol levels and should be used with caution if you have a pre-existing history of this condition. Your blood cholesterol levels will be closely monitored and the dose of your medicines may be adjusted based on your clinical condition.

Gout

Gout is a type of arthritis that occurs due to the deposition of excess uric acid in your joints. ALDACTIDE 25/25 TABLET may increase uric acid levels in your blood and may worsen your condition. Hence this medication should be used with caution if you have gout.
