Description
Adcapone Tablet is used in a combination with carbidopa and levodopa for the treatment of wearing-off symptoms of Parkinson's disease. These symptoms may include stiffness, tremors, muscle spasms, poor muscle control, etc. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

General warnings

Driving or Operating Machinery

Patients with Parkinson's disease are usually advised not to drive or operate machinery. Also, use of this medicine may cause symptoms such as dizziness, unusual tiredness or weakness, confusion, drowsiness, etc. in some patients. Hence, it is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery during treatment with this medicine.

CNS disorders

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from CNS (central nervous system) disorders due to an increased risk of severe side effects such as hallucinations, psychotic episodes, confusion, etc. The risk is especially higher in the elderly patients. Close monitoring of the patient for any changes in mood and behavior is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Any unusual symptoms should be reported to the doctor on priority. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate patient/caregiver counseling, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Use in Pediatrics

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Hepatic impairment

This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver diseases due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of liver function tests, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Low blood pressure

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from hypotension (low blood pressure) or patients receiving antihypertensive medications (high blood pressure medicines) due to the increased risk of a very low blood pressure. Regular monitoring of blood pressure levels is recommended for such patients. Report any symptoms such as lightheadedness, fainting, dizziness, etc. to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
