Description
Actram-P Tablet is a combination of Paracetamol and Tramadol. It is a pain-relieving medicine used to provide relief from moderate to severe pain that may be associated with conditions such as headache, back pain, muscle pain, etc. Actram-P Tablet may cause common side effects such as dryness of your mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, stomach pain, diarrhoea/constipation, mood swings, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or if they become severe. Actram-P Tablet should be taken exactly as advised by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day for the ease of remembrance. Avoid discontinuing the treatment without consulting your doctor as it may cause withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sleep disturbances, irritability, etc. To avoid these, gradual dose reduction is necessary under your doctor’s supervision. Actram-P Tablet should be avoided if you are allergic to it. This medicine is not recommended in children below 12 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, stomach/intestinal problems, or a history of seizures before taking this medicine. Close evaluation with respect to your current medicines is necessary to avoid any undesired side effects. If you are pregnant or are breastfeeding consult your doctor before taking this medication.

Allergy

Avoid taking Actram-P Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any allergic symptoms such as skin rash, redness and/or itching, sneezing, breathing difficulty, etc after taking this medicine.

Acute alcohol intoxication

Acute alcohol intoxication, also known as alcohol poisoning is a condition in which you may experience disturbance in behaviour/mental function due to excess alcohol consumption. Actram-P Tablet is not recommended due to the increased risk of breathing problems and severe side effects.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) are a class of medicines used to treat depression. Actram-P Tablet is not recommended if you have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors within the last 14 days due to the increased risk of severe side effects.

Severe liver impairment

Severe liver impairment is a condition of reduced liver function. Actram-P Tablet is not recommended as this medicine may further damage your liver and worsen your condition.

Postoperative pain

Actram-P Tablet is not recommended for children below 18 years of age to treat post-surgical pain after tonsillectomy (removal of tonsils) and/or adenoidectomy (removal of adenoids, the glands located behind the nose) due to the increased risk of severe side effects.

Gastrointestinal obstruction

Actram-P Tablet is not recommended if you have a history of blockage/tear in your intestines due to the increased risk of worsening your condition.

Pregnancy

Actram-P Tablet may cause severe side effects in your foetus and hence this medicine is not recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.

Breast-feeding

Actram-P Tablet passes into breastmilk and may cause side effects in your infant. If you are breastfeeding, this medicine is not recommended.
General warnings

Addiction

Taking Actram-P Tablet for a long time can lead to addiction. Inform your doctor if you experience any changes in mood or behaviour. Do not take it for a longer duration than prescribed by your doctor.

Use in elderly

Actram-P Tablet should be used with caution in the elderly due to the increased risk of breathing difficulties. It is recommended to begin treatment with this medicine at the lowest possible doses, followed by gradual increments based on tolerance and therapeutic response.

Use in children

Actram-P Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age due to a lack of safety and efficacy data.

Driving or Operating machines

Actram-P Tablet may cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you experience such symptoms, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines.

Withdrawal symptoms

Prolonged use of Actram-P Tablet may increase your risk of withdrawal symptoms (restlessness, sleep disturbances, irritability, agitation, anxiety, increased blood pressure, loss of appetite, etc) if you stop taking this medicine abruptly. Hence do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Your doctor will reduce the dose of this medicine slowly over a period to prevent any undesired side effects.

Sleep-related breathing problems

Actram-P Tablet may cause sleep-related breathing problems such as sleep apnoea (breathing pauses during your sleep) and sleep-related hypoxemia (low oxygen level in your blood). Inform your doctor if you experience any symptoms of breathing difficulty during sleep, waking up at night due to shortness of breath, excessive drowsiness during the day, etc. Your doctor may suggest dose adjustments based on your clinical condition.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Actram-P Tablet. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one.

Overdose

Do not take more dose than that is prescribed by your doctor. Contact your doctor if you suspect an overdose with Actram-P Tablet.

Alcoholism

Kidney Disease

Actram-P Tablet is eliminated by kidneys and should be used with caution if you have pre-existing kidney problems due to the increased risk of side effects, resulting from the accumulation of this medicine in your body.

Seizures

If you have a history of seizures (fits), Actram-P Tablet should be used with caution as it may increase your risk of a seizure attack.

Liver Disease

If you have liver problems, special consideration is needed while taking Actram-P Tablet. The conversion of this medicine to its active form happens in the liver. Overdose can produce more active forms and leads to liver damage.

Intracranial pressure

Actram-P Tablet should be used with caution in case of increased intracranial pressure or head injury due to the risk of worsening of your condition.
