On completion of his MBBS from…read more Burdwan Medical College & Hospital, Dr Sabyasachi Basu joined Nilratan Sircar Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata as postgraduate trainee in General Surgery under Dr Tarun Chattopadhyay and Dr Sanjay Maitra in 2014. He was trained proficiently in laparoscopic surgeries here and after completing his masters, he started practicing in different hospitals in Kolkata and Howrah. After a brief stint in M R Bangur Hospital and Apollo Multispecialty Hospital, he appeared for NEET SS where he secured AIR 28 and moved to Mumbai to pursue Plastic, Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery.
At TNMC & BYL Nair Hospital, he was trained under greats of Plastic Surgery like Dr Amresh Baliarsing, Dr Uday Bhat & Dr Arunesh Gupta. He was part of the team at Breach Candy Hospital under Dr Sultan Pradhan and Dr Amresh Baliarsing. At BYL Nair Hospital, he was trained in aesthetics, particularly rhinoplasty, abdominoplasty and gynaecomastia surgeries. After he passed MCh, he joined the esteemed BJ Wadia Childrens Hospital, Mumbai to train in Paediatric Plastic Surgery under Dr Mukund Thatte and Dr Shankar Srinivasan. Here he learned cleft, congenital hand and brachial plexus surgeries. He worked with Dr Nilesh Satbhai, the leading hand transplant surgeon of the country. In the meantime, he passed DrNB from Safdurjung Hospital, New Delhi.
In 2023, he joined Tata Memorial Hospital to formally train in oncosurgical reconstruction and free flaps. He was sent on deputation. to Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Visakhapatnam, where he did plenty of free flaps independently. The following year he visited Dr Ashutosh Shah to learn hair transplant surgeries and Dr Ajay Hariani and Dr Jas Kohli to train in LASER procedures. He also did a course in fillers, botox and peels under Dr Nitin Sethi.
Dr Sabyasachi Basu has multiple publications to his name in national and international journals. He is academically oriented and believes that to perform any surgery, one should be formally trained in that and should leave nothing to chance.
