Dr. Sopan Sardesai

Dr Sopan Sardesai has completed his MBBS from Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences and thereafter has completed his post graduation (M. D degree) in psychiatry from JSS medical college, Mysore. He further gained a DNB qualification in psychiatry and is currently pursuing a Ph. D in psychiatry in the area of sleep medicine. Dr Sopan has further done a one year certificate course in child and adoloscent psychiatry from the IACAM academy (Indian Association of Child and Adoloscent Mental Health) and an advanced certificate course in management of addictive disorders from NIMHANS, Banglore.He operates his private practice from Samvedana clinic, Indore. He is associated with Shalby hospitals as a consultant psychiatrist. He is a founding director of Manasva healthcare private limited and Manasva foundation which operate with the aim of providing high quality mental health services in Indore and neighbouring areas.He works at Manasva neuropsychiatry clinic which is run by the companies and in addition routinely participates in 'awareness and educational activities' in the community.Dr Sopan has technical expertise in subfields of sexual medicine, geriatric psychiatry, de-addiction medicine, neuropsychiatry and consultation liaison psychiatry. He has trained and practiced in various settings ranging from speciality centers like NIMHANS to rural areas and primary health care centres with minimal resources. He advocates a holistic approach specifically tailored towards the unique needs of each patient. He believes in specific and targeted evidence based drug therapy in tandem with psychotherapeutic inteventions and mobilization of the social structure around the patient for his/her benefit. In addition to treating the primary illness, he does extensive work with client's family in areas of psychoeducation , symptom management, expressed emotions etc.
