Dr. Bassem Makkar

Dr. Bassem Makkar is a Specialist in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Motor City branch of Medcare Medical Centre. After completing his basic medical studies at Egypt’s Cairo University, he obtained his Master’s in Orthopaedic Surgery. He enhanced his trauma care skills by doing a basic life support (BSL) course. He is a member of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate.Dr. Makkar practised as an Orthopaedic Specialist Surgeon for the Ministry of Health in Egypt for almost a decade. He then worked for a few years in Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah Medical Complex City where he managed the trauma team and as an Orthopaedic Specialist at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. After this stint, he relocated to the UAE where he spent a few years as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Prime Health Group.He is an expert orthopaedic surgeon who manages all types of trauma and fractures for adult and paediatric patients. He manages infected, non-united fractures, arthritis and rheumatic problems including osteoporosis. He has successfully managed sports injuries, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, complex trauma and fractures, joint arthroplasty and managed post-trauma deformities nonunion. He is passionate about sports medicine and post-operative rehabilitation.When Dr. Makkar finds time in his busy schedule he likes to unwind by playing football and swimming. He speaks Arabic and English.
