Dr. Shanitha Fathima

Dr.Shanitha Fathima is a Specialist Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital. She completed her MBBS from the Government Medical College, Pariyaram, Kannur, India and her Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Kasturba Medical College (Manipal University), Mangalore, India. She holds a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery (FMIS) from the Sunrise Institute of Medical Sciences, Kakkanad, India. She is a member of the Indian Medical Council, the American Association of Gynaecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and the Federation of Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of India (FOGSI).She started her career as an Assistant Professor at the MES Medical College, Perinthalmanna, India. Here, she gathered extensive experience in her speciality and was passionately involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. After coming to the UAE, she worked in some of Dubai's premier tertiary healthcare facilities. She worked as a Consultant at Aster Hospital in Al Qusais, Zulekha Hospital in Dubai, Medeor 24X7 Hospital, International Modern Hospital, the Canadian Specialist Hospital and the Vcare Polyclinic.Dr. Fathima’s clinical expertise includes managing normal and high-risk pregnancies, including caesarean deliveries, laparotomy for gynaecological conditions, abdominal hysterectomy, vaginal hysterectomy, and pelvic floor repair, hysterectomy, microwave endometrial ablation, fibroids removal surgery, and polycystic ovarian syndrome. She is passionate about minimally invasive gynaecology and high-risk pregnancy, recurrent pregnancy loss care, adolescent health, treatment of PCOD, contraceptive advice, preconception and premarital counselling, well-women checkups and cancer screening of breast and uterus including the treatment of menopausal problems, infertility evaluation and treatment and transvaginal cervical cerclage.
