Dr. Puja Ajay Rai

Dr. Puja Ajay Rai is a Specialist in Ophthalmology at the Medcare Medical Centre. She completed her MBBS at the Government Medical College in Miraj, affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, and her DNB Ophthalmology from the Diplomate of National Board, New Delhi. She holds a Fellowship in Cornea and Microsurgery from the Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai, India. She is a member of the All-India Ophthalmic Society, the Cornea Society of India, and the International Keratoconus Society.After completing her fellowship in Madurai, Dr. Rai served as a Consultant in Cornea, Refractive, and Cataract Surgery at the Rangalakshmi Netralaya and then joined Ramaiah Medical College as a faculty member in the Ophthalmology department, both in Bangalore, India. She later worked as a house officer at BDBA Municipal Hospital in Mumbai. After relocating, she has worked with RALS Clinic and JTS Medical Centre. Since then, she has worked with Aster Hospital and JTS Medical Centre as a Specialist in Ophthalmology.With a focus on anterior segment surgeries, Dr. Rai has gathered extensive experience in cataract surgeries and her proficiency extends to refractive surgery, corneal transplants, collagen cross-linking of the cornea, ocular surface carcinoma surgery, and treating other complex corneal conditions. She treats patients with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), eye allergies and infections, glaucoma, pterygium, dry eyes, ocular surface disorders and Keratoconus. She has successfully treated cataract and corrected refractive errors with specialized contact lenses.Dr. Rai keeps herself updated with the latest advancements in her field, attending numerous CMEs and conferences and presenting research papers. She is passionate about teaching and has trained students in both cataract and corneal surgical procedures. She enjoys dancing, cooking, painting and indulging in creative activities in her spare time. She speaks English, Hindi, Marathi and Tamil.
