Dr. Joana Coelho

Dr. Joana Coelho is a highly experienced Consultant in Family Medicine with over 12 years of dedicated practice in the Portuguese National Health Service. Her expertise spans a wide range of areas including acute musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain management, child health, diabetes, hypertension, neurofunctional acupuncture, smoking cessation, and travel medicine. Dr. Coelho holds specialised post-graduations in Chronic Pain, Medical Acupuncture, and Travel Medicine. Her proficiency in Medical Acupuncture is endorsed by the Portuguese Medical Association, where she also serves as a Board Member of the Medical Association College of Competence in Medical Acupuncture. She has contributed significantly to the field, having collaborated for 8 years with a Chronic Pain Clinic in Portugal, focusing on Neurofunctional Acupuncture.A member of the Portuguese Medical Association since 2011, Dr. Coelho is actively involved in professional organisations. She has been a board member of the Portuguese Medical Acupuncture Society (SPMA) since 2019 and holds a current position on the board of the Medical Association College of Competence in Medical Acupuncture since 2023.
