Dr. Raafat Yahya

Dr. Raafat R. Yahya, MD is a consultant neurosurgeon at CMC Dubai. Dr. Yahya is a graduate of the American University of Beirut where he completed his MD degree and neurosurgical training. After returning from Canada, Dr. Yahya has been practicing neurosurgery in Lebanon for the past 18 years.In addition to his main interest in Pediatric neurosurgery, his practice includes a wide range of nervous system pathologies for both the adult and the pediatric population. These pathologies include diseases of the brain, spinal cord, vertebral column and the peripheral nerves and range from surgical treatment of tumors of the brain and spinal cord to degenerative diseases the affect the vertebral column and cause secondary problems referable to nervous system like degenerative intervertebral disc disease and spinal canal stenosis. These procedures are nowadays greatly facilitated and aided by several advances if the fields of anesthesia and neuromonitoring like detailed monitoring of the spinal cord and cerebral cortex during surgery and performing brain surgery under local anesthesia with the patient awake, advances that are instrumental in preserving function and thus improving the quality of life for patients undergoing brain and spinal cord surgery.
