Dr Muhammad Afzal is a UK trained consultant gastroenterologist with over 20 years experience. After graduating from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan, he moved to the UK in 2001 for further training. He obtained MRCP UK certificate in 2003 and entered specialist training in gastroenterology and general internal medicine in 2003. Rotating through 7 different hospitals in 3 different regions of the UK, he completed the training in Dec 2009. He was awarded CCT (Certificate of completion of training) in gastroenterology and GIM in Jan 2010.He has been working as a consultant since then. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in June 2013. He is clinical and educational supervisor and participates in teaching for both under and postgraduate medical trainees. He was the clinical lead for endoscopy department for 3 years. He also held a position as senior honorary lecturer at Edge Hill University, UK.
