Dr. Manar Sonbol

Dr. Manar Sonbol is a Specialist in Orthodontics, practising at Medcare. She completed her BDS from King Abdulaziz University and then qualified for a Master’s Degree in Orthodontics from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. She has been certified by the Swedish Board in Orthodontics from Karolinska Institute. She has attended several dental sleep medicine courses and workshops at Tufts University, USA. She is a member of the Saudi Orthodontic Society, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the World Federation of Orthodontists and the European Orthodontic Society (EOS).Dr. Sonbol began her career as a General Dentist at King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital in Jeddah, KSA. Here, she gave lectures and trained postgraduate students. After specialising in Orthodontics, she worked as a Specialist Orthodontist at various hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, she became a Consultant Orthodontist and relocated to the UAE. She is Invisalign Certified and the author of a book titled ‘A Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, an innovative pathway’.Dr. Sonbol’s expertise covers interceptive orthodontics, TADs, MARPE, clear aligners (Invisalign), airway-focused treatment, SmileCloud, WebCeph, DentalMonitoring, 3D treatment planning, management of OSA in children and adults and craniofacial orthopaedics. She strongly believes in patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, team training, protocol development, clinical supervision, advanced orthodontic mechanics and craniofacial growth modulation, digital smile design and airway-focused orthodontics. She treats patients with conditions including class I, II, and III malocclusions, crowding and spacing issues, skeletal discrepancies, overbite, deep bite, open bite, cross bite, (anterior and posterior), early mixed dentition issues, harmful oral habits, mouth breathing and related dentofacial changes, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), impacted or ectopically erupting teeth, midline shifts and occlusal asymmetries, vertical maxillary excess or deficiency, Bruxism, cleft lip and palate cases, orthodontic retreatment and relapse cases, airway obstruction due to skeletal constriction (narrow palate, retrognathic mandible) and pre- and post-orthognathic surgical orthodontics for severe jaw discrepancies. She addresses growth modification in children and adolescents to correct skeletal imbalance.She is an animal rescuer and cat lover who enjoys reading history, archaeology, astrophysics, and quantum physics and playing with children. In her spare time, she works out regularly and is a certified Yoga teacher; this keeps her focused and energised. She speaks Arabic and English.
