Dr. Irina Sema

Dr. Irina Sema is a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Medcare Medical Centre. She completed her MBBS from Altay State Medical University in Barnaul, Russia, followed by an MD from the Saudi Board in Obstetrics and Gynaecology under the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.Dr. Sema’s career spans over a decade in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with experience across multiple countries. She commenced her medical career with a Clinical Residency in Surgery, followed by another Clinical Residency in Ophthalmology, both from Altay State Medical University in Russia. She then worked as an Obstetrician at a private hospital under the Ministry of Health in J&K. She worked for a few years with the Security Forces Hospital, Dammam, KSA, where she completed her Specialisation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She later joined them as a Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Before moving to the UAE, she worked briefly as a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NHS, UK.Dr. Sema’s expertise extends to complete obstetric care (antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum), prenatal screening and diagnosis, high-risk pregnancy management, labour ward management and intrapartum foetal monitoring. She manages obstetric emergencies like PPH, eclampsia, shoulder dystocia, etc, vaginal and operative deliveries like instrumental deliveries and Caesarean sections. She also treats common gynaecological conditions like infections, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, endometriosis, menopause and perimenopause care, PCOS, fibroids and other uterine and ovarian pathology. She provides family planning advice to her patients, including contraception counselling, IUD and implant insertion and removal.She is a firm believer in fitness and health, so during her spare time, she enjoys hiking and watching movies, as it helps her relax. She speaks Arabic, English, Hindi, Russian and Urdu.
