Dr. Amin Kanafani

Dr. Amin Kanafani is a Specialist in Otolaryngology at Medcare Medical Centre. He completed his MBBS from Misr University of Science and Technology and a Master’s (MD) in ENT from Cairo University, both in Egypt. He has qualified for the Syrian Board in ENT and the Arab Board in Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery. His thirst for knowledge and desire to stay updated with the latest techniques in his field have led him to complete numerous certifications and Diplomas. Dr. Kanafani holds a Certificate from the Student Scientific Society- International Summer School for the training of foreign medical students, multiple Diplomas in Basic and Advanced Rhinoplasty from Ain Shams and Cairo Universities, Diplomas of Basic and Advanced Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery from Ain Shams and Alexandria Universities, Diploma in Temporal Bone Dissection and Hearing Aid Implant from the Arab Federation of Otolaryngological Societies, Diplomas in Head and Neck Surgery from both Ain Shams and Cairo University Hospitals, Diploma in Phono-surgery from Ain Shams Specialised University Hospital and a Diploma in Laser in ENT from Cairo University Hospital (Al-Kasr Al-Ainy).He is a member of the Arab Board ENT-HNS, the Egyptian Society of Otolaryngology (ESO), the Syrian Board of Medical Specialties (SBOMS)– ENT and the Emirates ORL Head and Neck Society.Dr. Kanafani began his career as an intern at Ain Shams University Hospitals, then continued his training in Cairo University Hospitals (National Cancer Institute, Abo Al-Reesh Paediatric and Al-Kasr and Al-Ainy Hospitals). Later, he moved to Syria, where he co-founded and practised as an ENT Specialist at Kanafani ENT Clinic. He also worked at Al-Razi Hospital in Tartus city and the Al-Mujtahid Hospital in Damascus during this period. During his training for the Syrian Board, he worked at the National Hospital, Tartus City, Syria. Subsequently, he relocated to the UAE.As an expert in the field of Otolaryngology, Dr. Kanafani performs all ENT emergencies, including adenotonsillectomy and ventilation tubes insertion, nasal surgeries, with or without endoscopy, septoplasty and turbinoplasty. He performs functional endoscopic sinus surgery, dacryocystorhinostomy, rhinoplasty, otoplasty, microscopic and endoscopic laryngeal surgery, myringoplasty, temporal bone surgery and neck surgery. Patients come to him for various conditions, including nasal obstruction and deformity, nasal allergy, chronic sinusitis with or without sinonasal polyposis, maxillary sinus cyst, recurrent throat infection, chronic tonsillitis, hoarseness of voice, vocal cord disorders, hearing loss, foreign body in the ear and nose, ear wax, ear deformity, neck tumours, obstructive sleep apnoea, ENT- related headache and vertigo.Dr. Kanafani has participated in many scientific and international conferences in Egypt, the UAE, Lebanon, and Syria. He likes to keep fit by playing sports, notably windsurfing and kitesurfing. He also enjoys reading a good book during his time away from work. He speaks Arabic, English, French and German.
