Dr. Ayman Shouman

Dr. Ayman Shouman is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Sheikh Zayed Road branch of Medcare Eye Centre. He completed his MBBCh from Cairo University and his MD from Cairo University, both in Cairo, Egypt. He holds a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (FRCS), Glasgow. He is a member of the Examiner Board of the Royal College of Surgeons England, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeries.Dr. Shouman has worked in many countries including Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates. He commenced his meritorious career with a Residency at the Research Institute of Ophthalmology, Egypt and went on to do a Fellowship in Vitreoretinal surgery at the Frankfurt University in Germany. He then served as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the New Jeddah Clinic Hospital in Saudi Arabia and the Eye Subspecialty Center in Egypt. He was appointed as a Senior Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Alnahda Hospital in Oman. He continues to visit the Research Institute of Ophthalmology as a Professor of Ophthalmology. In Dubai, he practiced as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with the Saudi German Hospital, the Belhoul European Hospital, the Emirates Hospital Day Surgery and Medical Center and the Spanish Center.Dr. Shouman performs a wide range of ophthalmic procedures, including Argon laser, YAG laser, lens and retinal surgeries. He is an expert in vitreoretinal surgery (diabetic & detachment), retinal laser treatment, intraocular injections, retinopathy of prematurity, cataract and intraocular lens implantation, and Uveitis management. He has successfully performed retinal detachment procedure, Pars Plana Vitrectomy, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, macular hole, giant breaks, macular pucker, foreign body removal, intravitreal injections, Phacoemulsification, premium IOLs, combined cataract and glaucoma, Argon laser in diabetic retinopathy, Yag capsulotomy, Yag laser vitreolysis, glaucoma surgery, trabeculectomy, express valve implantation, selective Laser trabeculoplasty, cyclo cryotherapy, cyclo photocoagulation, ISTENT and PRESERFLOW.
