Dr. Asfar Ali Afridi

Dr. Asfar Afridi is a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry at the Medcare Medical Centre.He obtained his MBBS degree from Ayub Medical College in 1999. He then moved to Dublin (Ireland) where he received training in Royal College of Psychiatrists (U.K) accredited training program. During his training, he acquired a Diploma in Management for Medical Doctors, from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, a Higher Diploma in Psychotherapy Studies from University College Dublin in Ireland, and a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry. Additionally he is the Member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych), London, UK and the Member of the College of Psychiatrists (MCPsych.I), Ireland. In addition the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the United Kingdom has awarded him the Fellowship of the College as mark of distinction and recognition of his contributions to field of psychiatry.Dr. Afridi has spent almost two decades in his chosen field, Having practiced as consultant Psychiatrist in Brunei (from 2013 to 2017) and Ireland (from 2018 to 2023) before moving to the UAE. His expertise covers an extensive range of disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder, adjustment, eating, delusional, bipolar affective and personality disorders. He has successfully treated grief, depression, stress reaction, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, postnatal depression and addiction. He is proficient in managing anxiety disorders, both generalised and panic disorders, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-partum psychosis, and behavioural and psychological symptoms in dementia.
