Dr. Arun Thomas

Dr. Arun Thomas is a skilled Specialist in the Department of Radiology at Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital. He obtained his basic medical education, that is, an MBBS from the Government Medical College, Kottayam, India followed by an MD in Radiodiagnosis from the Government Medical College, Calicut, India. He is a Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in Radiodiagnosis, besides which he holds a European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR) and a Diplomate of the Indian College of Radiology and Imaging (Dip. ICRI). He is a life member of the Indian Medical Association and the Indian Radiology Imaging Association. He is an overseas member of the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) and a member of the European Society of Radiology and the British Institute of Radiology.Dr. Arun Thomas first started practising as a Radiologist at the Anaamaya Medical Institute in Kannur, India. Subsequently, he worked with Iqraa International Hospital and Research Centre in Calicut, Avitis Institute of Medical Sciences in Palakkad and the Apollo Hospital in Kochi, all in India. He then relocated to the UAE, where he joined NMC HealthCare in Sharjah as a Specialist in Radiology.As an expert Specialist in Radiology, Dr. Thomas has a special interest in musculoskeletal radiology and GI radiology which is reflected in his understanding and reporting of MRI, CT and USG. He is involved in the reporting of conventional radiography, mammography and special and fluoroscopic investigations like Barium studies, IVP, MCU and RGU. He performs image-guided procedures for drainage of appendicular and liver abscesses, percutaneous nephrostomy, renal biopsy and ultrasound imaging guidance for reduction of intussusception. He also performs FNAC of thyroid and lungs, the biopsy of the liver, Trucut biopsy of breasts, radiofrequency ablation of osteoid osteoma and intraoperative ultrasound for liver and pancreatic resection.
