Dr. Ali Alshareefy

Dr. Ali Alshareefy is a Consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology at the Medcare Dr. Saeed Al Shaikh Gastro & Obesity Centre. He completed his MBChB from the well-known Baghdad College of Medicine, under the University of Baghdad in Iraq and went on to embellish his knowledge with impressive degrees from the UK and Ireland. He obtained his FRCPI, FRCP (Glasgow), MRCP (Gastroenterology), MSc. (Molecular Medicine) and a Diploma in Health Services Management.Dr. Alshareefy is associated with various hospitals in Ireland and the UK in the capacity of a consultant. He is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Southwest Acute Hospital and the Antrim Area Hospital both in Northern Ireland, UK. In Ireland, he is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Mayo University Hospital, the Wexford General Hospital and the Letterkenny University Hospital. He spent his sterling career as a gastroenterologist and endoscopist, of over 20 years, mostly in Ireland and UK. He is an accredited endoscopist for BowelScreen - the national bowel cancer screening program in Ireland. His extensive expertise covers a range of organic and functional disorders with a specific interest in inflammatory bowel disease. These include heartburn and acid reflux (GERD) and functional dyspepsia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Peptic ulcer disease, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and weight management through endoscopic interventions. He has been remarkably successful in the early detection of bowel cancers through bowel screening, diagnosing colonic polyps and other gastrointestinal and colon pre-cancer conditions. He has an impressive record of using endoscopy effectively in both diagnostic, therapeutic, upper and lower endoscopies with noteworthy key performance indicators.
