Hair Restoration in Delhi

What is Hair Restoration?

Hair can be lost over the scalp or the entire body. Hair Restoration is the process of restoring hair growth in the areas that have lost hair, especially on the scalp.

Who can undergo Hair Restoration?

It is normal for an individual to lose about 50 to 100 strands of hair a day. In certain conditions, hair loss is more pronounced. An individual might notice thinning hair patches or baldness, sudden loss of a lot of hair or easy breakage of hair. In such cases, they can undergo Hair Restoration after consulting a doctor to identify the underlying cause of the abrupt hair loss.

Who cannot undergo Hair Restoration?

Individuals with the following issues cannot undergo Hair Restoration:

  • Diabetes
  • Hepatitis
  • Coagulation disorders
  • Cancer
  • Poor wound healing
  • The tendency to make keloid scars

Does Hair Restoration hurt?

Since Hair Restoration is a surgical procedure, some pain and discomfort can be expected. However, the patient will receive a local anesthetic before starting the procedure to reduce pain and discomfort, and they might only feel a slight pricking sensation.

How long will it take to recover from the surgery?

Patients will be able to get back to work within two to five days, at most. Patients may experience redness, tenderness, and mild pain for a few days after the surgery and might require pain medication to reduce post-procedural symptoms. However, these are usually mild. Following post-surgery instructions in the first few weeks of recovery will help to reduce discomfort.

Some of the most common causes of hair loss are:

  • Hereditary male or female pattern baldness

  • Scalp infections
  • Cancer and other medication
  • Extreme weight loss
  • Lack of nutrients in the diet, like iron and protein

What are the types of hair loss?

There are many types of hair loss and some of the most common types are:

  • Male pattern baldness

What are the treatments available for hair loss?

Hair loss can be treated by:

Medication:

  • Medicines like Minoxidil and Finasteride can be used to treat male and female pattern baldness. Treatment with medications is effective only until the medicines are being used.
  • Steroid injections and creams. Corticosteroids are injected into patches of the scalp with a small needle. These injections are repeated every four to six weeks and are generally given by a Dermatologist.
  • Immunotherapy. Alopecia areata, universalis, and totalis are treated by topical immunotherapy. This involves applying diphencyprone, dinitrochlorobenzene, or squaric acid dibutyl ester to the scalp.

Medical procedures:

  • Hair transplantation: Healthy hair follicles are plugged to bald patches on the scalp. This procedure is more effective to restore natural thinning of hair or balding or loss of hair due to an injury. Despite surgery, hereditary hair loss will eventually progress.
  • Scalp reduction: A part of the scalp that lacks hair is removed and replaced with a part of the scalp that has hair.
  • Tissue expansion: This procedure requires two surgeries. The first surgery involves placing a tissue expander under the scalp that has hair and is next to a bald spot. After a few weeks, the scalp with hair stretches out. In the second surgery, the expanded scalp tissue is pulled over the bald spot.
  • Laser therapy. A low-power laser device is used for treating hereditary hair loss in women and men. This method helps improve hair density.

Other Methods:

Light treatment: Ultraviolet light is used on bald patches in order to increase circulation to the hair follicles and stimulate hair growth.Tattooing: Small bald patches are tattooed to look like short hair.

How can an individual prevent hair loss?

An individual can prevent hair loss by:

  • Following a healthy diet, that includes nutrients like vitamin A, B, C, D, and E, zinc, protein, iron, and selenium
  • Avoiding smoking
  • Reducing hair exposure to pollution
  • Nourishing hair with oil
  • Reducing or replacing chemical products used on the hair
  • Reducing overall stress
  • Exercise
