I had issues pertaining to coping with my life situations and chronic illness, and associated behavioural changes due to the unchanging situations. Since the initial sessions, she has greeted me with a vibrant smile, coming in to the session room with quite an energetic vibe and start.
She talked in a very encouraging way, and assured me that none of my thoughts were or invalid. This made me open up, and made me feel that I wouldn't be judged for any of my thoughts. Hence, I could express myself better, as howsoever underwhelmed I may feel of my thoughts, she never made me feel so, she made me feel it's alright, I expressed, and the question she would ask in return, that she described as the part of CBT, made me reconsider my thoughts. Therapy as a process is slow, and as a person I am quite impatient, angry and impulsive. There were times when I had often projected my anger of the situation of my life on her which isn't right and any person would react back badly, but she knew how to handle me. It's only possible when you are able to trust your psychologist the most. Because during the last year, I learnt that I had to be receptive to the feedbacks and suggestions they give you. Sometimes, I felt that some suggestions weren't alright at that moment but in retrospect, they were. She knew what she had in mind. For instance, I remember, I would keep asking her for sessions which were very close in duration. She wasn't concerned about increasing the number of sessions but didn't want me to be dependent on her. She wanted me to learn coping capabilities with her as a help. Sometimes, it doesn't makes sense to us at that time, but in retrospect, I think it made me better.
The most distinct qualities that I think that would set her apart would be that she gives her full attention during the session. Due to circumstances, I have been quite a distrustful person, and I was able to confide in her and develop trust in her. It's quintessential that there is trust between you and your therapist. I could get a good vibe from her. Not only this, after been taking therapies, I have come to believe that therapies aren't for people who are sick or mentally unwell- we all have some issues or struggles in life and therapy teaches skills that helps to manage day to day life better.; to become a stronger person and you start feeling that you aren't weak. You start believing that problems will exist and you might start helping others. I have been urging people in life to seek therapy because it is not something that they should take when things are out of control but learning to deal with a life which is supposed to be hard for all, I guess. I have developed a trust in Tejasvini as a therapist that she is excellent, and if my experience has helped me, I would definitely want that it be shared with others who might be helped as well. I would be enthusiastic to give her my highest recommendation. Thank you!Read less
