Treated syphilis last yr
Lst year i was diagnosed with Syphilis. Last month I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend. Just to reassure, I did vdrl test...which came Reactive 1:8. To reconfirm I did tpha which gave...observed value as positive (1:2560) and biological reference interval as negative. Does that mean, my partner gets infected too. I am worried for her. Please assist. She has confirmed she does not have any such medical history.

Hello, syphilis is sexually transmitted disease, but more chance of transmission from female to male and less chance vice versa. Risk of transmission is more in 1 and 2 stage of syphilis. Not in 3 Rd stage of syphilis. False positivity is more common in VDRL so TPHA is more confirmatory. If it's negative you don't have to worry
