My daughter is an itp patient since 10 years , she is on and off steroids and she has also been given anti -d , immunoglobulin but she didnt respond , now i want to know about rituximab , is it effective without any severe side effects. ?

Hi there... I understand your concern... rituximab, an anti-CD20 chimeric monoclonal antibody, has shown promising results in patients with refractory ITP....side effects include fever, chills, and body aches, which usually occur with the first infusion and are successfully managed with available drugs...discuss the issue with your treating doctors they will guide you further.
